Yellowbrick Annual Art Shows for Emerging Adults

It is with admiration, respect and joy that Yellowbrick shares selected artwork and personal statements created by peers in treatment over the past 15 years.

Art therapy is not about the final product; it is about the therapeutic process involved and the relationship between the artist, the art and the art therapist. Working within a trauma-informed model requires creating a safe space in support of peers through the healing process. Expressive arts assist peers in safely approaching, reframing and integrating trauma into their understanding of their journey. Providing engaging, pleasurable and empowering modes for creative expression facilitates integration of experiences which were originally overwhelming or otherwise unable to be maintained within conscious awareness. Connecting the mind, brain and body promotes peers’ ability to find meaning through imagination and creativity.
